Happy New Year. I hope that your winter break was nourishing and filled with as much connection and merriment as you craved.
I myself had a lively Thanksgiving holiday, which set me up to have a quiet winter break with opportunities to sit in meditation, stillness and openness about what wants to come in the year ahead. Usually when the Gregorian New Year’s Day comes along I’m thinking about broad themes and how I want to *feel* rather than goals with timelines and metrics. Then in the coming weeks, the how-of-it-all becomes clear and my plans grow legs as the wood element bubbles up in early February (the midpoint between the solstice and the equinox).
Personally, a thing I grapple with in life is a tension between wanting to feel connected and wanting to be in a cave, puttering, studying, alone. Each year I get better at striking that balance. AND each year I seem to crave more quiet time, more stillness, more deep work. To that end, I set aside a couple of sacred swaths of time in my schedule where I will not run errands, make social plans or squeeze in a personal appointment. It feels like one of the most important gifts I have given myself in a while. I can’t wait to see what I create with it.
What about you? What feeling do you want to cultivate in 2025? I would love to hear what you’re cooking up and calling in.
If you struggle to follow through on your visions, to give yourself what you need or to even believe that it’s possible to design life, work or relationships to support you, acupuncture can help. I work with an acupuncture system that supports the transformation of stories, habits and beliefs that are in the way of the feeling you’re trying to cultivate. Would you like to know more?
