I’ll be honest, the actions that I usually rely on aren’t enough to maintain inner peace. It’s taking a deeper commitment and more time doing daily meditation, yoga, sleep and eating well to stay centered as I hear what is happening in the world and for my patients. And in a moment of mindlessness, if I open instagram, I’m completely thrown off. (Yes. I know what the simple solution to that one is.)
Is it possible to take political action when you’re struggling with fatigue or anxiety?
The same is true for my patients. Even the ones that “have it all dialed in”. Even the ones that make it a point to operate above the noise of the “illusory world” of politics and geopolitical shenanigans are noticing the need to step up their mindfulness and wellness practices.
If you’re raising little ones or experiencing family stress, your hierarchy of needs is to focus on your people. If you’re dealing with chronic fatigue or age related aches and pains, taking to the streets may not be aligned for you. If you struggle with anxiety and insomnia, reading the news *every day* may not be the right thing for you until you get those things dialed in.
How to make a difference while having a balanced nervous system
Now, more than ever, putting attention toward being vital, grounded, centered and clear about your boundaries and your capacity are the most important actions you can take right now. Once you do that you can take aligned action from a resourced and peaceful place, when the time is right, with extra capacity for kindness and compassion to everyone you interact with on your journey.
