Every June we get to experience the fiery delight of Pride Month: rainbow flags, days of parades, and joyful celebration of how far society has come… (record scratch).
Let’s be real — we know society hasn’t come nearly far enough. I know folks making strides to move out of the country because it no longer feels safe to be authentic. I know others who are saddened, even outraged, about the direction we’re headed.
So if it feels hard to muster the fire element for Pride Month this year, here’s a reminder that there are five elements — and five ways to honor Pride. Even in a “normal” timeline, not everyone wants to party with over a million people in the city. Here’s what it can look like:
