I’ve been talking about how the wood element offers motivation, energy, and a kick in the pants to get moving on your life goals and projects.
But what if you’re dealing with indecision or uncertainty… or a lack of confidence… or just lack of motivation? Just because the wood element is available to you, doesn’t mean you’re positioned to jump into action.
Do you feel all this wood-element energy but have nowhere to go? There are a variety of reasons this may be so:
- When the liver, the wood element organ, is physiologically depleted, this contributes to lower confidence, low motivation and indecision. The liver can be deficient through many etiologies: long-term insomnia (or choosing not to get enough sleep), long-term stress and overwork, long-term partying, genetics, as well as specific illnesses that affect the liver. Supporting the liver with nutrition, herbs, acupuncture, and lifestyle modifications is helpful for infusing confidence, motivation, and certainty into your life.
- There’s also the low motivation that comes from extreme overwork and burnout and conditions like depression and chronic fatigue. This is overwork and stress that has moved beyond the wood element and caused depletion to the water element. This is a more severe situation that is supported as described above and really demands a rectification of how you approach work and rest.
- If you have more yin wood in your astrology, you are more susceptible to confidence and certainty issues. Knowing this about yourself promotes so much self-compassion. It also points to the need for nurturing your confidence and certainty with coaching or hypnosis, or other support, the same way you would work with a physical therapist to strengthen a weaker joint.
Are you someone who struggles with motivation, indecision, and confidence? Would you like to make sure your wood element is getting all the help it can to support you in your life goals?

P.S. The liver is the organ of the wood element. If you are stressed, or your liver is stressed or the expression of the wood element in your life is diminished, reducing alcohol can be supportive.
It’s right on time that my colleague, hypnotherapist Michelle Walters is offering an event tonight focused on decreasing alcohol consumption. In her “Think More, Drink Less Hypnosis to Decrease Alcohol Consumption” you will do hypnosis to support this goal in the class. You purchase your tickets opens in a new window::HERE::
