I LOVE this time of year: the crisp air, the lighting in the sky and a peculiar sense that the veil is indeed thin. Have you been able to connect to the deliciousness of the season?
This week we experience the arrival of the earliest vibes of winter, the water element and an increasing presence of yin. You see, winter isn’t just a sudden thing we bang into on the solstice, we ease into it slowly over the coming weeks while we also observe the autumnal energy drift away.
This is great news because we can begin to incorporate practices and perspectives to help us be more energized physically and emotionally as the darkness and cold increase. If You know the darkness is coming. Now you can be prepared with a lantern to light the way.
What I mean is, we can rely on the fire element, which offers a bright, warm lantern in the darkness to balance the cold dark yin of winter. Gentle examples of this include:
- Getting out for a midday walk to soak up the sun
- Lighting candles to provide cozy warmth to your home
- Making plans with friends who bring laughter and smile
What will YOUR lanterns in the dark be? I would love to hear your uplifting, winter, self care ideas.
