Not sleeping? Your nervous system might be “hot”

One of the things that often throws patients the most is the idea that weather could have — ANYTHING — to do with the underlying cause of their health concern. I get it. It’s such a foreign concept, and mainstream medicine completely eschews this nature-based view of health.

The folks I get the most traction with on this are the ones eating a cold smoothie for breakfast and dealing with loose stools, who quickly see the difference once they take it away — or the ones who are headache-prone and already know their headaches get worse in the wind.

So what about you? Are you thinking, maybeee there’s a pattern you’ve been noticing this summer? Hot flashes are up. Anxiety, now that I’m asking, is part of your daily background noise. UTI symptoms…

These are all complaints I’m tracking in the office right now.

The summer heat mitigation plan is simple: skip the alcohol and the chili crunch sauce, mitigate your sugar intake (especially chocolate), opt for tea over coffee, make sure you’re hydrated and getting enough sleep, and metabolize your stress, anxiety, and frustration with daily movement or meditation — preferably both.

And what if your anxiety is so high that you’re not sleeping, ensuring this negative feedback cycle just keeps repeating? Chinese Medicine, acupuncture, and herbs are potent solutions for clearing heat, nourishing the body’s cooling, and offering root-cause solutions — not just symptom management.

Would you like to stop the negative feedback cycle of anxiety and insomnia?
